Electronic Archiving of Notarial Deeds in Hungary

In Hungary, all notarial deeds are archived using electronic signatures. As all Hungarian notaries have qualified certificates, some notarial deeds are created electronically, with qualified signatures. However, most notarial deeds are still created on paper, they are scanned, and then signed with the qualified signature of the notary, and then time stamped.

The resulting electronic documents - e-dossiers - are sent to the qualified electronic archive of Microsec, where they are to be retained for 50 years. Microsec provides the qualified certificate and secure signature creation device for all Hungarian notaries (and vice-notaries), and the deeds are signed using e-Szignó, the signature creation application of Microsec.
